Rooted in Culture. Built for Black Student Success.
The Black Student Success Summit (BSSS) is a BEAM Village initiative created to affirm, equip, and elevate Black students through culturally grounded experiences, mentorship, and community connection. What began as a gathering has grown into a powerful movement for identity, access, and long-term student success.
What Is the Black Student Success Summit?
The Black Student Success Summit (BSSS) is a flagship program of BEAM Village designed to center Black students in spaces of learning, leadership, and cultural affirmation. Unlike traditional academic conferences, BSSS is intentionally built to reflect the lived experiences, brilliance, and potential of Black youth.
The program brings together students, educators, families, and Black professionals to create pathways of opportunity through mentorship, exposure, and culturally responsive learning experiences.
How BSSS Began
The Black Student Success Summit was created in response to a growing need for culturally affirming spaces where Black students could feel both celebrated and strategically supported in their academic and career journeys.
What started as a small, community-centered gathering has evolved into a structured program that continues to expand its reach, partnerships, and impact. Each year, BSSS has grown not only in size but in depth—integrating more mentorship opportunities, career exposure, and leadership development experiences.
BSSS continues to evolve as a living program shaped by students, families, educators, and community voices.

Students also connect with other community-based organizations & up for their summer work programs and year-round opportunities. The BSSS is a space for young people not only to see what is possible for careers but it's a place where they come out with tangible things to do to move their career path forward.
Through BEAM Village, BSSS continues to shape how Black student success is defined, supported, and sustained.
