Empowering Parents: Supporting Young Adults in the Transition to College
This workshop is designed to equip parents with the tools, strategies, and insights needed to support their young adults as they transition to college life. The session will address the emotional, academic, and practical aspects of this significant life change, emphasizing the importance of fostering independence while maintaining a supportive relationship. Through panel discussions, and expert guidance, participants will explore ways to navigate common challenges, facilitate open communication, and empower their young adults to thrive in a new environment.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Understand the developmental changes and challenges young adults face during the transition to college.
2. Identify strategies to encourage independence while remaining a source of guidance and support.
3. Learn effective communication techniques to build trust and foster open dialogue with their young adults.
4. Develop tools to address practical challenges, such as time management, budgeting, roommate challenges, life across the country, and problem-solving.
5. Recognize the importance of self-care and creating a healthy balance between parental involvement and independence.
